I've been interested in traffic control equipment (lights, signs, etc) for most of my life, though only considering myself an active "collector" thereof for the last decade. [like so many other things I guess, but that's a whole additional story...] It was probably half a dozen yrs or so ago now when I first spotted this "vintage jacket" listed on eBay -- but no matter how much I wanted it immediately, the seller's asking price was just plain wacko-too-high... :-( :-( :-( FFWD thru another year+ while it still sat there 'for sale' with zero bidders, every month or two the asking price would drop a little bit until *FINALLY* it crossed the threshold I'd been holding myself to since the start. AND I bid and nobody else did and now it's mine. ;-) <lol> :-)
Its outer shell is made of genuine bright yellow and black leather with textured leather collar and trim, typical nylon (?) lining and elastic cuffed sleeves/waist. It has a red/yellow/green/arrow 'logo' graphic in the shape of a traffic light on each sleeve and down the middle of the back, all of their parts respectively colored leather sewn to its surface. Its label names it as by "PHASE 2" with a small tag indicating size L and another by the collar reading "MADE IN KOREA". It remains in nearly perfect condition, with only the smallest and most minor occasional scuffs anywhere on it.
That's basically all I know about it for sure. Onward to *guessing* -- I'd think it's probably a product of the general 1980's 'Michael Jackson THRILLER' / 'Arnold Schwarzenegger TERMINATOR' / 'early hip-hop' era of about the same time. IF it has some specific link to any of those (or anything else?) I haven't found it yet, though it does appear that PHASE 2 made a reasonable number of other styles of likewise rather highly graphic and colorful leather jackets abouts that same time frame.
YEAH -- admittedly, it's not quite an "everyday fashion statement"... <lol> BUT on those one or few times a year when I do wear it out someplace, I nearly always end up with a fun random comment from somebody or other along the way...? ;-) :-)
