That's a massive hotel.
Sherman‘s march to the sea ,this is where He stayed ,when He got back
I hope they gave the war criminal pyro an asbestos room. He probably started the Chicago fire during his stay.
Thank you guys..... the post and funny line about Uncle Zellmo and Toyrebel's comments gave me a chuckle!
Sherman spent a few days around Halloween in my community then burned it down as he left. The inhabitants "camped" in the cemetery to guard against pilfering of graves. That event is commemorated annually around Halloween at the cemetery by a candle-light gathering with people in period clothing stationed at certain tombstones, telling the histories of those particular families and how they lived thru Sherman's horror.
The town was never rebuilt.....it's a dot on the map with just scattered homes.
That's an interesting story to say the least Watchsearcher! What a cool commemeration ritual! If Smokey the Bear had been around back then, he probably would have stamped Sherman out.
Thanks to all
