I found a big box of old 1940's news papers from Houston Post and Arkansas that my family had under their bed until passing.
I have to be really careful with these papers as they are brittle and important. My aunt and her husband collected important new papers as history was being made back in the 40's. All of the papers are complete and very interesting. I wish that I could include more photos.
Wonderful historical papers, hope you can find a way to preserve them
Fabulous!!. I collect ephemera, and love finding items of historical importance. Paper items are so vulnerable to acids, so I always try to store them in acid and lignin free boxes or wrap them in acid free tissue paper.
What a fun find -- I think I'd suggest contacting a local library or museum (certainly there should be plenty to choose from in Houston?!) to see if they could offer suggestions for proper preservation of these papers at least, and/or if they'd be interested in having them.
Thank y'all for the great suggestions. I will look into how to preserve them properly. I just thought that if I didn't look at them, they would last a long time.
