I purchased this very warm looking print in an old wooden frame that has wavy glass in it. A year later I found a print at a store with a complete signature on it, "Pears". I added a photo (3rd photo) of the print that we found at the store with a signature.
It is a Pears Soap advertising print.
In this print, it appears that a young mother just arrived in a home to introduced her small infant to a family as a kitten sleeps in it's bed below.
The wood on the frame has nice looking grain.
Such a super picture, the whole family enthralled by the infant, while the kitty below them sleeps indifferently! Very nice post, thank you for sharing
Typical late Victorian genre picture. You can google lists of genre painters from that time. Maybe you'll find the artist there.
Golgatha thank you and I will give it a try. If I find the name then I will edit it to include the name.
i like the frame!
I just solved this mystery signature today. It is an advertisement for Pears Soap which was founded in 1789 and still exists today.
