I'm into celebrating "firsts"...there's just so many of them in one's life, so why not find a little reason to make each day special?
This Kralik floriform vase is the first piece of glass delivered to my new home...there it was, neatly boxed up & waiting for me on the doorstep this morning.
This is my fifth floriform piece by Kralik, & one that I'd been hoping to find ever since sklo42 posted a similar example last year - with added thorns. Yes, I wanted a thorny flower quite urgently after seeing that one...
I watched this for a few weeks because I kept forgetting to bid (busy, busy, busy is my excuse). I couldn't believe that no one else was interested it, so I had it all to myself when I bid at last.
It has three petals, milky opalescent speckled with pink frit. The flower's throat is clear with pale yellow streaks & is studded with three sturdy thorns, while the stem is supported on two wonderfully twisted green branches. My other floriforms sit on leaves so this one has a real point of difference.
It measures around 14 cm tall, 14 cm from petal tip to end of stem, & 13.5 cm across the widest point of the petals.
Well clearly you know that I too love these but this is particularly lovely in my eyes as it has pink petals. Don't we always want something we don't have!
So glad you're enjoying it, & yes, I definitely agree that one's wish list is always full of things seen in other's collections! CW has opened my eyes to so many different pieces I'd never seen before, & also made me appreciate what I have even more.
I do have another floriform with frit like this, but it is more of a ruby red colour, & the flower has 4 petals with a bluish opalescence. I am so keen on these floriforms - I would gladly buy any others that come my way regardless of colour!
So realistic it could fool a hummingbird !
Ahh... the rarely seen flos kralikus
I shall have to keep a lookout for them Bambus1920! :-)
It does appreciate the cool climate, & seems to be positively flourishing here, philmac51! :-)
