Another of the in-between wars Mini-Plane fighter planes. This the Boeing F4B-4, there was an Army version called the P-12. These were first introduced in 1930 just in time to battle Kin Kong on the Empire State Building.
For this model it was made in the 1970s by Bachmann. Possibly reproduced by Tomy which took over the production of the Mini-Planes. The moving parts on this one are the wheels and the propeller. Mini-Planes are supposed to have moving parts as it says so on the boxes. Some have more than others, this one is low on the moving parts range. It is a fairly well detailed model.
The real plane flew at a top speed of 189 mph. It had two machine guns of .30 caliber just like the WWI fighters. Some had .50 gun replacing one of the .30 caliber guns. It also had bomb racks for two 116 pound bombs. Nit a huge leap from the planes of WWI. Production ended in 1932. Next another of the in-between planes.
Love those between war colors. Did all the aviators in the Kong sortie get to paint a giant ape silhouette on their fuselage or just the last plane that strafed him?
Thank you very much Thomas.
Thank you very much Toyrebel. I do believe each plane got a giant ape.
