Here's a Hubley Air Force Bomber Transporter #522 cataloged in '58. The tractor is the same cat body(#505) used on bulldozers, front end loaders and the mover in the #514 Cat Log Truck I recently posted. It's got wheels instead of tracks. The lowboy #506 also came in Carryall tractor trailer sets, with two different cabs, carrying a #481 road grader. This cat/lowboy combo also cane in the #60 construction set in yellow like this one. However the lowboy in the #522 has a slot for the tailskid of the plane.
The plane is the #495 in blue/silver only available with this set. The cat/lowboy I bought didn't come with the plane. This is #495 I shared a while back that was restored for this set. It has the non-hoodscooped Blunderbuss2 approved upper fuselage. This is a rare set, on par with the #514's rarity. It's over 22" and it has got sone serious play value because of the #495 plane. I like all the 500 series, but this the only large size military rig Hubley made. The #522 also came in the highly desirable #80 Navy Airfield set that had the rare white ambulance also and two blue heicopters. Finding the #80 with the box that formed a hanger is a true grail. The Toyrebel would do almost anything to possess it. Unspeakable things!
Rebel, it just struck me that I have a project you would luv. Have a plane in a container (Rallye) that we have to put together here in St. Maarten. Want a vacation on "The Friendly 'fkng' Island" ? All expenses paid except airfare, hotel, transportation, food, drinks, tips, clothing, cover-charges, meds, or departure tax. Did I leave out something that will come back later to bite me in the arse ?
Very cool transporter
BB2 no meds?!
Thanks Newfld.
Ultra mega cool. Speaking of cool I want to go hang out at BB2's airport.
Thanks Apache, it sounds interesting.
