Hello all, I'm sorry to have been away so long. I've had a lot going on the last year or so.
I found this the other day at the goodwill store, it's a beautiful piece, and unmarked. I was hoping someone might recognize it.
It has an unusual design, with cast elements that look hand created around the candle cup on the inside of the bowl.
Oddly it has an applied handle,....or at least it looks like it was hand applied to the finished cast piece.
Ever seen one like this? Any clue where it might have been made?
Any ideas, like or loves welcome.
Goodnight, Tony.
This piece appears to be the base of a hurricane lamp. Most likely it was made by Fenton Glass. The top piece would have been in the hobnail pattern.
If you do an image search for "Fenton hurricane lamp," you should see an example of what the top piece looks like.
Actually, Fenton did use this plain base on other patterns besides hobnail.
That is the bottom of a Fairy Light. Here is what it should look like with globe. https://www.pinterest.com/treknun/fairy-lightscandle-lights/

Sorry right side of page. lol
I clicked on the link and saw no such image. This is the base to a Fenton piece that is missing the top. An intact piece (both pieces included) is referred to as a "hurricane lamp" to Fenton collectors.
also sometimes called a hurricane finger lamp due to the finger hole. It came with a hobnail globe in Fenton's 1961 catalog as #3998-MI Hurricane Lamp; page 7:
