This is my second of the True 1:64 scale series by Auto World. The first was the Barracuda. Never thought of the Impala of a muscle car but could be. We had station wagon with a 429 in it and it had some get up and go in it. It is very well detailed as are many other of the current die cast cars. Has the red engine block with the black valve covers and air filter, also has the radiator. Many other fine details like the twin triple set of red tail lights, windshield wipers, gas cap cover and more.
One thing I have noticed about the True 1:64 scale is that they are larger than the vintage Matchbox and Hot Wheels. I always thought Matchbox looked more like 1:87 scale aka HO. All models the size of a Matchbox car are reffered to as 1:64 regardless of the actual scale.
I LOVE this blue Impala fort, my grandad drove the same car in same color, thanks for a lovely holiday gift & Happy New Year :)
Nice detail. They had Impala SS's in the early 60's that were pretty hot despite the large size. Usually had a 327 not sure which engine version or hp. They had the 409 based on the 348 engine block. It was a street sweeper, the Beach Boys wrote the song "Shes So Fine My 409" about it. I knew some people who had some fast early 60's Impalas, they'll surprise you what they'll do in that large sedan body!
Cool car! Happy New Year!
Thank you very much Newfld. We had a silver 64 Impala which I did not fully appreciate.
Thank you very much Toyrebel. You did a much better write up about the Impala then I could.
Thank you very much Thomas although I would have gone with the Beach Boys on this.
And thank you very much Mrstyndall and a Happy New Year to all!
