Picked this up a couple months ago. Not what I would normally buy, being a contemporary collectible. But the quality of it won me over, it's on par with Fitz and Floyd which I have a few pieces of. I think that it is a fish bowl holder, very similar to a Weller Pottery one I have with a cat on it. This one has a whimsical figure of a dog fishing with a bird sitting on his top hat, by Lowell Davis. the piece itself is Louisville Stoneware out of Kentucky. I have searched the internet and haven't been able to find anything like it. It is really large 15' long 11' wide and 12" high. I am wondering if it might have been a prototype or something?
Thanks for the love blunderbuss2 and fortapache

Happy New Year to u and yours.
clockerman, thanks for the comments, Happy New Year right back atcha!
Very nice find. Where did you find it? Have been looking for it for a while. This was part of a collection of Louisville Stoneware birdhouses/birdfeeders done by Missouri artist Lowell Davis although this one he says was a "fish house". It is entitled "Mr. Bear's Fishin' Hole" and is number LD30. It originally had a one gallon fishbowl and a tree stump insert. Not sure how many were made. Check out our Lowell Davis Collectors website for photos of the other pieces in this collection.
LarrySernyk, Thank you so much. I have been doing internet searches for two months since buying this, with no luck what so ever. Which collectors site are you referring to? I have searched several. I even sent a e-mail to Louisville Pottery, but got no response. What year was this made? Thanks again!
Thanks to LarrySernyk, I am marking this as Mystery Solved.
Sometimes what becomes a treasure most surprises even the owner, I consider this a treasure also !~
