PEPSICO first rolled out their "TAKE THE PEPSI CHALLENGE" marketing campaign in the mid 1970's, a sorta 'double-blind taste test' where random people in public places could taste two plain white paper cups of 'cola beverage' [Pepsi and Coke] and pick their favorite, which would then be revealed to them.

In my case, it was on a street corner somewhere in downtown Chicago IL in 1979/80 or so. This actual never-used bumpersticker was my 'giveaway souvenir' from the moment. Also for the record, I chose the PEPSI and remain a loyal Pepsi drinker to this day... ;-) :-)
Great piece!!! But I am a Coke guy!!! Pepsi is to sweet for me!!! I also like Moxie I guess that's why we call Soda, Tonic up here in Mass.
Thanks SO much to yougottahavestuff, clockerman, fortapache, Vynil33rpm, EJW-54, & officialfuel for stopping by and tapping the <love it> button!!
YGHS -- I've also tried (and liked, I think?) Moxie. Down here in this part of the USA it seems everything is called "coke" by default (it was "soda" in the midwest where I grew up) which sometimes leads to slightly goofy conversations in restaurants...
[server] "What kinda coke 'ya want, sweetie?"
[customer] "7-Up." [or Dr. Pepper, or something orange/pink, or anything but actual Coca-Cola]
I actually kinda enjoy specifically asking for Pepsi (esp. if all the menus/machines/etc are all Coke labeled) in restaurants, just for the amusement of making the server apologize for "only having Coke products"... <wink><LOL>
I am a Pepsi person also. Thats funny, I do the same thing at when I go out to eat.
When I was a kid we were on vacation in Atlantic City, went to see Ricky Nelson at the Steel Pier or the Million Dollar Pier I forget which??? Asked for a Tonic and the girl behind the counter asked if I was SICK!!!!
My first trip out of Massachusetts!!!
MORE THANKS to jscott0363, bottle-bud, & iggy for the <love it>s! iggy, believe it or not there's actually at least one restaurant down around here which serves *both* Pepsi and Coke products side-by-side outta the same fountain...I've often wondered how they manage to get around the 'exclusivity agreements' etc...??
