I've been thinking about this vase for a while...saw it just after I moved house...the price has been reduced recently, so I decided the time was ripe to make it mine. I do rather like a square section on a vase. Especially like the contrast between the simple geometric form & the organically shaped base & fern design
It measures 20.3 cm tall, 3.8 cm across the top rim, & 7.2 cm across the footed base.
The vase is made from a single layer of ruby glass, which is embossed with a fern pattern & has an iridescent finish. The applied, footed base is made from clear glass with an iridescent finish.
Bohemian origin...Kralik perhaps?
Pictured with some local ferny foliage.
Stunning, and I agree on the shape dichotomy!
Many thanks, racer - yes, it's a wonderful paradox, isn't it!
