      It is a secretary or secretary desk. Doesn't look to have a lot of age to it, but detailed photos of drawer construction and back may show differently.

      In most cases it's like this: Broad dovetail joints: New. Narrow dovetail joints: Old.

      Disagree.

      Size of dovetails can be indicative of age, but I don't think it is as simple as broad vs. narrow.

      Modern dovetails are machined and not hand cut. I think the difference is easiest to determine based on uniformity. If the dovetails are all the same size and distance from each other-- then they are most likely machine made. Hand cut dovetails will show a variance in size and distance.
