    Old sword i came across would like anyones info on it if know anything. It is in horrible shape but still really cool. Blade has 18?1 on it and other side has US. RPB OR RPE. And the butt has J.W.R. on one side and B on other.

      This is an 1850 U.S. Model foot officers sword. Used extensively on both sides during the War of Southern Independence, because Northern officers had a habit of leaving their swords behind when retreating. As you can tell, I'm impartial about the War of Northern Aggression. LOL !!

      Forgot to mention that the scabbard was leather with brass "hangers" & "drag".

      Agree M1850 from the War of Southern Insurrection.

      Condition really hurts this one.
