I found this lovely chest in the attic. Full of old material, smelling like moth balls. I would guess it's from the 30s or 40s. So I dumped out most the the stuff and brought it home. Kinda needs to be refinished. Maybe a summer project. My mother has an old dresser that is like it. Maybe she will want it. If not i don't mind having another chest.

Nice cedar lined what us old people called a Hope Chest. the Birds Eye veneer piece in front is great. Summer refinish job? Try this quick remedy!! 1/3 Mineral oil 1/3 Turpintine and 1/3 white vineger shake it up and apply with a rag to a back spot if you like what you see wipe it all over and let it sit for a couple of minutes wipe it down again with a dry cloth again. It does a great job without using all that $$$ refinishing stuff!

That's a great idea. I'll have to try that. I come across lots of old pieces that I would never refinish. This one I say that only because at one time long ago someone put a darker finish on it. And not on the whole thing. With signs of drips as well. This one might eventually go in my spare room. I'm trying to figure out what to do with all this furniture I'm coming across. I get yelled at the house is full..lol..
