One more thing I found someplace years ago which was probably already borderline "antique" then, whether I knew/understood it or not? <lol> Frankly, I probably more likely thought I might be able to *use* them for something (beyond 'shelf dressing', that is) at the time, then being a kid more interested in 'science/etc' instead of 'sports/etc' -- one way or the other I ended up with it and still have it -- the 'usage' never happened but who cares -- now, they *do* make for a fun 'shelf dressing' item anyway. GO FIGURE. ;-) <LOL>
"LITTLE TATTLER" headphones made by "MARINETTE ELECTRIC CORP. of MARINETTE, WIS." As pictured, their black bakelite housings are fastened to a canvas(-ish) covered bail assembly with adjustable (nickel?) plated metal hardware, complete with the original (now worn and slightly shedding) cloth covered wire and terminals.
I don't know anything specific about them (or their mfr, etc) beyond a quick look around the internets just now for this post, which does seem to suggest a likely 1920's time frame for them, which does kinda stand to reason at least by my knowledge. Taking the liberty of also showing in the "radios" category in addition to general "electronics", since it seems a likely (if not literal) stretch.
They are very obscure and cool. Thanks for sharing.
Back when I was a wee tyke, when dinosaurs roamed, I tinkered with ham radio & used a headset similar to these. Many nites falling asleep with them on listening to classical music on Radio Moscow. Brings back memories.
All good Thomas and all best, Tim :-)
Thomas, why should that bother you ? French side: Shake n Bake, Dutch side: Honky, and Jamaica: Ja-mon or Bum'ble clot.
I gutted a pair of 1920s head-phones I had and updated them with modern sound. I used them for quite a while till the jack broke. Need to replace that now.
Something I would use on my old radio..cool find..
