In the middle 1950's Structo was on a roll with building large toy trucks (Tonka Size). The also built a new facility with more production capacity. W.A. Wenner was the company president and apparently a "Cadillac Man" loving his Cadillacs from General Motors. In the same time frame, GM had a road show of sorts taken new cars (mostly) on a show circuit as indoor exhibitions. This gave the car company an opportunity to show off their cars to large audience and certainly families with children. Structo "struck" on an idea to do some early concept cross-marketing. They had started producing a Cadillac Eldorado type cast metal car for their new car carriers that also featured a new style cast metal tractor. What about producing a version for Cadillac dealers to offer as a lost leader to be available at the Motoramas and as an add-on in the dealer showrooms? What dad would turn away junior from owning some Eldo's of his own? This is a restored unit of that period proposal. Apparently nothing came from the concept but Structo put together about a dozen of these for GM marketing and a few more for the Freeport offices. This was found in Illinois in 2015 then restored for display.

That is an impressive piece. Can't go wrong with a car carrier.

Interesting story, great restore. Structo made a great car carrier, especially with their die cast loads compared to the other manufacturers plastic and stamped offerings. A shame it didn't see full scale production, I would have loved to have one.
