A simple beaker shape in transparent aqua has, on this vase, been enhanced with a precisely wound white threading. Taking it one step further, a pattern of circles was then ground through the threading into the aqua body. I find it fascinating that this is accomplished without chipping or damaging the threading in any way but here it is - 20 circles, not a chip, flake, ding, or missing piece of thread.

This vase stands just over 8" (20.5 cm) tall with a diameter at the top of just under 5" (12.5 cm). The underside has a two-line "open O" sandblasted CZECHO-SLOVAKIA mark. I try to show in the insert that the mark was applied after the threading. I can link this ground threaded decor to a confirmed Kralik shape and, unless I'm shown otherwise :+), I'm going to believe this vase is also Kralik.

Beautiful piece from W. Kralik. In my collection I have the same décor in a different color and design. see:

It's a modern looking piece Harry. I too am amazed at the lack of chipping on the circles, and particularly love the thousand window thing happening with the opposite side lines appearing finer. Very clever design and execution!

Thank you racer and larksel - I have seen the same piece as the one in the link with blue winding.

Thanks all for the views and loves.

The first one of these I ever saw was in a clear ground with red windings. These are ultra modern looking, and strike me as very modernist considering they were produced in the 1920's.... almost 100 years ago. The design would not look out of place if produced today.
