Here we can see the zipper pattern in two specific types believed to be by Franz Welz.

1- Satin-flashed Zipper. This type comes in many base colors but not all satin flashed pieces have the same pattern. Sometimes this type can come marbled, tornado patterned or rippled like ocean waves or layered like sandstone. The white base colors seem to be the only ones that Zipper

2- Spiral zipper. This type is spiraled around then zippered with a tool or mold; These are two variation (one with confetti the other with powder lines)

It's too bad that the shapes can't be more helpful, this one that Tom owned is supposed to be in a Ruckl shape, but then who knows?
I have gone back to the 4 usual vases in this shape that are claimed to be Ruckl and I have asked a few collectors who, when and why these vases are attributed to Ruckl. What bothers me is that very few glass items with these decors exist, there are a few red with green spatter pieces that are in Kralik shapes, and also the light blue, pink with cobalt spatter, which has a variant with cobalt pulls in Kralik shapes.
If Tom's example is not Ruckl and something else, then I am willing to consider none are Ruckl. What do you think?

Might have been confusing in previous comment, as the vase in question was never owned by Tom, but image 2 is.

Here is the series of vases in their various decors.

Hey Jericho, When you commented on sklo's post of similar decor, you agreed with welzebub that there is not enough (yet) to attribute these to Welz. Given that position, do you think the title of this post could cause some confusion? (Coz it has confused me!)

I don’t consider the four images in the first pic to be at all related the nice Sklo vase- colors are not the same, Shape is not the same and the finish is different as well

TOD, those tall frog vases I believe are bath salt vessels- they aren’t part of the zipper series that I’m working on- that spiral zipper with black pull-ups may show up in a zipper miscellaneous post

This post is what you should compare it to... the shape and color matches

Thanks for response Jericho. So, I think I've got it - Sklo's fabulous example not Welz, but you believe examples in this posting are. I'll give them greater scrutiny now to ascertain differences in colour/treatment etc. I would be really interested for Welzebub to contribute thoughts on these examples.... Images 2, 3 and 4 are definitely Welzian, but Image 1 is a Welz revelation for me!
Love this zipper series, can't wait to see more! Thanks for your efforts.
(And Sklo, glad I wasn't the only one confuddled.)

I hate to call anybody out on what is or isn't Welz.

Weird observation* in Welz Satin flashed pieces you see a lot of patterns but zippers occur only in white base color... and that is the same for the next post of Ruckl marbled decor- Only the blue is found with a zipper pattern
