Another heavily used and salty M1 combat helmet from the collection.
This navy lid is painted Navy blue and features a hand tied net that has been painstakingly hand tied by the sailer who used it.
These types of nets have been seen used by the Seabees and marines.
As this one is not named I’m guessing the sailer took inspiration from the marines and added this net as to camouflage it.
Either way it’s been done to break up the shape of the helmet and would have most certainly been used on a beach or inland.
The paint underneath features the shadow of the net, showing you that it’s been under the hot sun for long periods of time and that the Net is 100% original to the shell.
The net is an incredible piece of art in itself, the liner is also original to the helmet with its flat buckle chinstrap and its corroded A washers due to the salt water and humidity on the beaches.
Showing tons of use sweat and dirt, this is truly a one off set !
