Wood Animal Call?

Hi folks,
I need some help to figure out what this is - maybe an animal call? It is heavy for the size 9 1/4"L 324g or 11oz, 2 holes in the middle, a hole on each end.
It does make a sound. Kind of neat, you put your mouth into the centre part and shift the side of your face/mouth to blow out one side or the other. You can block and or partially block the end to give a different sound.
any ideas appreciated!
