Hello all, picked up this old knife for a couple bucks, started cleaning it up and it had some stuff on the blade, says Soy La Puerza on one side, animal on other, no date. Thanks for any information. Semper Fi, Woody
Soy La Puerza = I am the Purity.
Style normally referred to as an Arkansas Toothpick.
Looks like it could be mid 1800s or so. Great find.
Oy vey. First - the inscription on the blade is Soy la Fuerza, not puerza, so the translation is, from Spanish, "I am the Force" (which makes a lot more sense on a knife than "purity.") Second it's only an "Arkansas Toothpick" if it's an American knife, which this is not. Sorry bb. Based on the handle design it is what is typically called a "Canary Islands knife," and guess what language is spoken in the Canary Islands . . . . . Spanish!
Thank you gentlemen, gives me alot more information than I had. Now I can start researching that some. If anybody else has anything to input, would still appreciate it...Semper Fi, Woody
Ron, my key word was "Style".
Ok, I'll give you that one.
