As I have my Marx Farm set up in my photo area I thought this would be a good time for my John Deere Tractor and Trailer. Also it goes with the Ford Tractor and Trailer set. Unlike the Ford set John Deere makes color matching tractors and accessories. That green color is a bit of a trademark.
These were introduced in 1964 and sold through 1968. I believe some early models had gray wheels. I have a box for the trailer but I have been reorganizing my Matchbox and it does not wish to appear.
The trailer is a tipper plus it comes with 3 barrels. The tractor just sits there and looks good.
Wonderful John Deere set!
Thank you very much Newfld.
Another Matchbox home 'Pache, like I knew you would. My old man was a Deere fanatic, he finally got a 750 around 87. It was a nice machine. I ain't a true country boy, but I got pretty good at garden tilling etc. I didn't realise until my mid thirties what the deal with the tractor fascination was, they're a blast to operate. A friend and I rebuilt the 750 in the 90's, I didn't know then the engine is basically the mid frame, I thought you pulled it out like a car engine!
Those authorised Deere barrels would probably be a $1000 a piece at the JD dealer! They are very proud of their parts.
Thank you very much Toyrebel. John Deere tractors are cool. Would love to have one just as yard art. That is some interesting info about the Deere. Got a feeling most of the stuff I could find would be repro.
Thank you
