I thought it would be for toilet paper but its too small for a modern day toilet paper roll, so maybe for a hat? i think it was bent at some point ( you can see it in the picture) and thats why it was thrown away. i would really like to know what this is, its always been a mystery?
First thing that came to my spooky mind!!! Pallbeares Handle to a coffin??? missing the other part.
It wouldn't hold a very thick roll of TP either. It MIGHT be (if it has been bent in toward the mounting surface) a curtain hold-back. The bar would be mounted horizontally.
Can you see any evidence that there might have once been a '2nd mounting bracket' on its other end, like the one (I agree, may be bent?) existing??
I like the tp holder idea. Perhaps when it got bent it got bent towards the wall too? That said it would also work as UncleRon suggests....So I really didn't help did I?
looking at it closely i dont see any evidence that there ever was another one.. the middle piece, i think theres a chance it mightve rolled at one time, both sides have dirt encrusted in it, but im not positive if it does. i do the hanger is bent, i dont know if they use to make small tp rolls back in the day but i did test it and it was was too big. what a odd piece
I'm backing away from coffin handle!!! to small?? Next guess small door/ lid pull???
Zac, did you metal detect this?
Yeah i found this behind blossom heath park when they were re building the docks by the canal, they had half of the street dug up and it use to be a dump from the 30s-50s area, this was sticking out the ground and this other guy said 'whats that?" and i go over and toke it out.
Old toilet seat hinge?
yeah i posted it on another forum and some people suggested a toilet hinge too, but i dont think thats it.. theres no sign of another bracket on the other side.. this thing has me stumped..
I like the curtain holdback idea.
