I know its not any newer than that anyway, as I myself came along in the mid 60's and this was *always* my Dad's briefcase the whole time I was growing up. He never actually used it to carry stuff back and forth to his work, instead just to to store 'important papers' of some sort in the closet. [then once I became a teenager I eventually 'appropriated' it, and have had it ever since... ;-) :-) ]
It is made of heavy brown leather, measuring about 18" wide, 13" tall, and 6" thick (expandable). A leather handle and strap-closure and catch both have brasstone hardware, the opening of the bag is actually a hinged painted metal frame. Four brasstone 'feet' on its bottom side. Inside, a single small cloth tag reads "GUARANTEED GENUINE SPLIT COWHIDE // MADE IN U.S.A." but there are no other marks or tags on it. Inside (not shown) are a couple of fiberboard 'dividers' and bottom stiffener.
Thomas -- if you'd like to stop by and fill it with money for me, FEEL FREE...ANYTIME AT ALL...??!!! <lol>
Your dad kept this case in very good shape, nothing like real cowhide leather
That's some primo leather. Still looks great.
THANKS SO MUCH to Thomas, Newfld, and Toyrebel for your kind comments -- the poor thing really probably could use a fresh treatment with neatsfoot oil/etc, but does seem like it was a 'high quality' bag whenever it was new. :-)
Further THANKS to: Vynil33rpm, hunterqlee, SEAN68, fortapache, & elanski for tapping the <love it> button! :-) :-) :-)
