Picked this 1880-90's leather covered Saratoga / Brides trunk up last month. The condition is rough and not quite what I have been very fortunate to come across in the past but I thought I would post it anyway. It is a foundation style I don't have and with all that hardware for sure I couldn't say no. It has several first encounter attributes for me. To start is the extra lid face wood slat front and back, which after trying to find some other examples I could only come up with two, so not so common from that stand point. The lid is much deeper than normal and with the tray runners being set so deep it looks as if it could have had up to two additional interior trays plus the the top lid area tray, which is why I called it a Saratoga / Brides. The lock style is a first for me...it has some minor damage but I am sure when the time comes this can be corrected. It does have a logo which looks to be a star, so could possibly mean Star Lock Works..not sure on that though or the age of the lock. The hardware looks to be all Sessions and with style and design on some pieces which is my first. It has 62 pieces of di-cast accents counting the shoulder and back hinges as one each and not counting the wheels ...so quite the pile of trim. # 4 Taylor latches. The bottom metal is shot as are the 2 lower metal end portions. It has no maker label nor does it have any interior or remnants of what use to be there. It measures 30 L x 19 D x 26 T. Overall it is still an interesting example...Thanks for looking!!

I would as well Carlie, but as with most trunks the story goes untold, but they do certainly make you wonder. Thanks for the love and comment!!
