Is this a World War I soldier in the photo? The frame is carved wood and brass (?). It’s lined in velvet and marked with the manufacturer (?). Can anyone help identify the era/age of the photo and the frame? Thanks!
The photo is WW1 era.
The photograph case is earlier-- it dates from the mid 1850s- 1870. It is actually a molded case and is an early composition material called thermoplastic.
Your case is a Sixth plate size-- the most typically encountered. The matting stamp is for the photographer out of NY.
