Another unusual WW1 era post card that shows a soldier holding his pet cat.

I don't have any idea on the subject or the location of this image.

AZO postcard backing on the image.

    Reproduction prohibited without written permission.

SUCH a handsome tigger-kitty -- one has to wonder how in the world that soldier got him to stay still long enough to take the photo, its difficult enough *now* to get a good pic of a cat with a modern camera/phone?? <lol> One way or the other it'd seem the two were probably 'special' to each other. AWESOME IMAGE!!!

Thanks obscure-- it is one of the most crisp/ focused antique cat images that I have owned. Appreciate you looking.

I'm no expert on Militaria at all, but his hat looks sort worn by soldiers from New Zealand, popularly called a "lemon squeezer". So maybe this fellow was an ANZAC? There's a bridge in inner Sydney called the ANZAC bridge, commemorating the combined Antipodean forces from WW1 - on one side of the bridge there's an Aussie "Digger" in a slouch hat, & on the other side, a NZ soldier in a "lemon squeezer".
That's a fine specimen of an old school cat that he's so proudly holding, too. Cats in vintage/antique photos look notably different to modern cats, don't they?

Came with a group of US soldiers, so probably US.

In the US, the style is called a Montanna peaked hat. It became the official US Army headgear in 1911.

I didn't know that ANZAC troops wore the same/ similar headgear.

Thanks for looking and commenting ironlace!
