This is my great-grandmother's necklace that was passed on down to me. She wore it in the only picture that I have of her. I would love to know something about it, if anyone can identify it. I've worn it with my grandfather's (her son) solid gold medal as Valedictorian of his high school attached.

these are called 'Victorian book chain necklace'. see on google, they are usually flat ornate links which were worn over the high neck of the Victorian dress or blouse. The third link often had a cameo, locket or pendant at its end.

Very nice to see, thanks for posting, here is another example in silver.

Thanks, truthordare! I'm going to post a picture of my great-grandmother with the necklace on. She did have an attachment to the third link, but no one knows what it was or where it ended up.

I love it when you can match a family heirloom to a photo! Adds so much to the history . you're very lucky your family seems to have been hoarders like mine lol

Thanks, Ms.CrystalShip!! I think so, too! Themuse, they hoarding as much as they could. I think "things" represented people and events and were more than just "things." I'm so blessed to have some of them!
