Irishcolle…
(137 items)
All of these tools belonged to one man. I bought the collection about 25 years ago. The tools came in the 2 tool boxes shown in the last picture. One box is made from leather and was probably made by the owner himself. There were several old tins with tacks, needles, and all sorts of odds and ends. Also included were the owners work notebook with measurements and diagrams of items he made, and several of his union cards.
Apparently he later worked in a factory making canvas covers for lorries as well as other items. By that time the demand for horse harness must have been greatly reduced.
What a WONDERFUL collection, with a likewise cool backstory!!
Thanks to all for looking in. The most obvious tool missing from the collection was a hammer. Being the most useful tool it was probably taken out at some time and never returned to the tool box.
