WW2 Trench Art Shells

I don't buy a lot of WW2 trench art shell vases because most of those produced are very poor quality. As a general rule they cannot compare to the workmanship found on WW1 pieces.

One particular type of shell is an exception-- the acid etched pieces. Whenever I find an acid etched piece, I am happy to add it to my collection.

On the left of these two examples is my newest acid etched vase. It has similar motifs to the example (on the right) that I have owned for about 5 years. Both have the large star as a central subject, diary of locations served and finally the flared top.

The newest example has the soldiers name as well and was purchased as a gift for his mother. Unfortunately, the WW2 enlisted database has four soldiers with the same name, so I haven't fully identified the soldier yet.
