    Hi everyone,
This is one chunk of glass!
I don't believe I've ever seen a glass sow before.
Made from uranium amber glass, which combined with its shape, make for some beautiful light play.
I've had her awhile now and never considered she might have any age until I recently saw a glass pig on eBay which looked very similar. Its size, face and broken pontil under its nose were the same, described as 19th century Nailsea. Knowing eBay aren't the most reliable resource when identifying glass I've tried to find out more about this but been unable to find anything at all.
I'd love to know more about Nailsea animals, if anyone can shed any light?

    Thank you

Hi keramikos. Thank you for the info and links. I'd seen the first one but not the last one, thank you!
I'd always thought of Nailsea as glass with a pulled feather patterns or loops in the glass, just as in your links, but never animals.
I saw the flasks while looking into this. Amazing little things, I'd never come across them before.
There was an odd coincidence with this and amber uranium glass. I'd only found out it existed a couple of days earlier and thought I'd keep a look out for some, then saw pig on an outdoor stall. In the afternoon light I saw it in you could easily see the green of uranium, which isn't always the case, I think had it been inside I might not have noticed. It was the quickest I've ever found something I've been looking for :)

That's a crazy cool piece you have there! My niece would love that. She loves pig just about anything...why, I dunno but he's (or she) is pretty darn cool!
