I gave just about everything away in the title but I will see what else I can drag out about it. It was made by Regal and it has Regal K7A on the underside. Not sure what the K7A stands for. I saw other Regal canteens that look the same with different marks.
The canteen is about 7" across and 2" wide along the sides. The canteen cover is vinyl or another synthetic material. Has the Boy Scout logo on it as does the canteen. I think the canteen is the same as the earlier ones although there was also a smaller one that looks like a flying saucer. And that is all I can come up with for now.
Love Scout stuff. The canteen looks exactly like the one I had around '66, except for the cover. I can't remember any manufacturers name. I wonder when they started the red color thing? I was still associated with the Scouts in a unofficial way with after high school and just don't remember seeing it. I've got a cousin who was an Eagle and Scoutmaster etc. who might know. He's about my age.
Thank you very much Toyrebel. I think there may be some other accessories in red. Looks like there was a mess kit and a different shaped canteen. These are much less common than the green pieces. Started when they had the red beret. I think most scout stuck with the green equipment.
I've seen a red covered kind of rectangular shaped canteen also. That might be what you're referring to. I don't remember that type canteen being around in the 60's, just the ones like this one and the UFOteen.
Yes Toyrebel it is the rectangular canteen. Here is the UFOteen…..

Looks like a UFO if taken out of the canvas carrier.
