This still completely sturdy old chair followed me home immediately from a thrift store a few yrs ago, one I noticed its <$10 price tag... ;-) :-) There's probably nothing terribly unique about it in its styling or (beautiful!) solid oak wood -- AFAIK, this general shape/type of chairs were cranked out by the boxcar-ful by many makers back in the 1930's or so (?) often to serve 'commercial duty' in schools/offices/etc.
Under its seat it is neatly stamped with "THE SOUTHERN DESK CO. HICKORY, N.C." and also a white chalk (?) name "E. K. FLOYD" in handwriting. I've no idea whatsoever whether Mr. (?) Floyd had a part in its initial manufacture, or simply owned it/parked his butt in it sometime over its years...??
THANKS SO MUCH to Vynil33rpm, fortapache, yougottahavestuff, & EJW-54 for having a look and tapping your <love it> buttons for this old oak chair!! :-) :-) :-)
