I found this amazing music box on a flea market, from a distance it looked like it was just a jewel wooden box or some kind of old box, but when i opened the lid, i saw the mechanism and recognized the first song (A Portuguesa) handwritten by the person who made this music-box as being now the Hymn of Portugal (it was not the hymn when the box was made, because the republic implementation only occurred later on in 1911) so i assume this box was comissioned by a wealthy Portuguese. The Wallnut wooden case has a beautifully hand painted lid (foto4), inside, the mechanism looks complete, the windup lever at the left side is not working properly, also 3 teeth are broken, but it plays if moved manually and the sound is great, i noticed by other similar boxes made by the same artisan, that a glass lid over the mechanism is also missing, the machine is now in a old school clock-maker, to tune up the mechanism and replace the broken teeth.
Thank you Keramicos, and thank you all for the Loves.
