Similar to my previous post on the Hubley 495, this 467 Navy Fighter was based on a then current design, the Brewster F2A Buffalo. Brewster built a facility an hour from downtown Philadelphia which was one of the closest aircraft factories to Hubley's location. By the time Hubley wanted to pursue this toy, the F2A Buffalo was considered obsolete but the Navy liked the promotional aspect so gave Hubley permission to review the prints.
With such a history, a collector asked if we could overhaul this toy airplane to match the full-scale Buffalo. The results are as shown. Other than the original prop being replaced (4-blade to 3-blade) the toy only needed to be polished, painted and scale markings added to complete it in 1940 guise.
Thanks All.
