    Hello everyone!!
In addition to my collection of trunks, doorstops and other collectible, I have quite a few antique and vintage men's hats. This is a fur felt Derby hat. These are also referred to as Bowler hats in England, where they were originally designed and created by Thomas and William Bowler in London.

This one was manufactured by the Dobb's Hat Company in New York sometime during the late 1920's. The original price tag is inside the hat box. It was purchased at Higbee's department store in Cleveland, OH for $13.50 usd. That would have been fairly expensive for it's time. It was barely worn by it's original owner. To find one of these in it's original packaging and in practically new condition is a VERY rare find indeed. I have several men's top hats, mourning suits and formal wear from the Edwardian era. So, I was very happy to add this to my collection.

Thanks to you all for stopping in for a look!!!

    Scott

wow to find one so mint ! excellent . I used to collect women's hats in fact still have some in attic :-) They are quite fun to look at as there were some pretty funky hats for women through the years .

      Thanks Mani!!
I was very lucky to find this one. Some of the hats that women wore, during that period, were so large that they had to be packed in special made hat trunks when the ladies travel.

Here's one i found and gave to my nephew a few years ago. He did some research, and this one belonged to a famous senator from New Orleans whose name i can't remember now.

Thanks ho2cultcha!! I checked out your hat. It's really nice Dobb's hat from the 1934-1940 period. It wears your nephew quite well.
