i didn't even really know what a 'pricket' was till recently, and now i have 3 of them. I found this one at a Berkeley junk shop yesterday. When do you think it was made and by whom? i really like the face on this and am guessing it's from early art nouveau, but i don't know where - america? europe? so circa 1900 is my guess.

A day or so ago when pole lamps out in the yard were lighted by a candle they had a pricket to keep the candle upright until melted wax formed around the base.
