Found a really cool and very rare old air compressor, manufactured by Wayne, from what I can find out it's from the late 20s, the pictures here aren't very good but I'm going to clean it up and post some more what do you think?
Great find!!!!! Does the flywheel move freely??
Welcome to CW
Thank you for the information fellas I appreciate it, not only does the flywheel move the thing works.
Compressors air!
It's really really cool.
I read something last night that about a guy named Wayne Ingersoll, is described as the grandfather of air compressors,
Sort of put it together in my head that that's the Ingersoll from Ingersoll Rand and that was where the wayne came from, clearly I was mistaken.
Fort Wayne Indiana makes more sense I guess.
Do you still have this Compressor? I’m currently in the process of restoring one. This is the only other compressor like mine I’ve been able to find online. I’m hoping so I know this is an old post.
This is bizarre. When I bought my wayne compressor, I was told it was pulled out of a basement. Mine had the same red hose on it. And the oil drain is identical. Missing the glass gauge. And the brown/brockmeier motor. I just was looking at picture. Initially i thought this was the only other one like it i could find on the internet. But. I think i have this compressor. As in the one pictured.
I have a compressor almost the same. Dont know anything about it but i know it works.
There will be a certification tag on the tank. Should have a date on it. The pump should have a tag as well from wayne that will give model #.
Hi just doing some research on a compressor I bought and found this thread. Mine is the same, I’d be really interested in see some more pictures. Any before and after would be great. Thanks
Very cool. Do you have some photos? Mine is currently disassembled. Im going to have the tank pressure tested and then paint it and reassemble. Is yours complete? Ive only come across 3 other wayne jr. compressors. Yours is included in the 3. What motor is on it? I have a century RI that will replace the motor mine currently has. I do have a small amout of literature i can share when i find it.
