Hello Everyone!!
I bought this from someone that sold it to me as a shoe buttoning tool. However, that's incorrect. It's a collar stud puller that was a promotional item from Hoffman's Store. This one is made of steel. It would have been pushed thru the detachable collar button hole, hooked onto the collar stud, that attaches the collar to the shirt, and pull the collar stud thru the collar button hole. If you've ever worn a shirt with a detachable collar, you'll understand just how very useful these tools are. You can still buy these today, only the ones today are typically plastic. I have included a third pic which shows how this tool would have been used. I'm unable to find any history on Hoffman's Store. But, I do know that this would have been from the early 1900's period.
Thank you all for stopping in for a look!!!

Excellent steel piece, so well made & useful
Thanks Jenni!
Thanks Thomas! The Hoffman's Store that this promotional gift came from would have sold men's shoes and suits. I once found info about this store, but I can't seem to find it again.
Thanks very much everyone for the loves, comments and for stopping by!!

Not to often I see someone pull one of them out of their pocket to take off or put on there shoes,.. ah the good old days ...smiling ... nice score Scotty...
Lol Recordmantime! No, I can't ever recall seeing anyone use one of these. Way before my time.
keramikos,
Thanks!! I totally agree. Getting dressed, during that period of time, would have really been a chore. And don't forget having to button your shoes, or boots, which would have also taken a good while.
Thanks ttomtucker for the love and for stopping by!!

You got me on this one also. I have never seen one...in this lifetime, anyway...
Thanks for the comment vintagelamp! Most folks, in today's world, have never seen, nor heard of, a collar stud puller. I have a newer one, which I've had for years, and that's how I knew what this was when I found it.
