Hello again! I want to re-post my search for my Grampa's "City of Boston Hackney Carriage Driver" badge #2377 issued to him in 1919 by the Commissioner of the Boston Police Dept. The image here is of a similar badge I purchased on EBAY. It's only five digits, but many years, off. I've bought a few dozen of similar Boston & Mass. badges in hopes of stirring up some info. regarding #2377. Any info., leads or any type of help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks & take care, Jim Ross, Jr. (Wakefield, MA)

Neat badge-- good luck with your search!

Were they reissued randomly every year or did the holder retain the same number?

Hi scott- I don't know the answers to your question. I found my info. here:
[Police records. vol. 56. Jan. 1, 1919 to Dec. 31, 1919 [manuscript] / Office of the Police Commissioner]. June (pp.661-776). This document was discovered inside of an old storage chest in the attic of a home in Quincy, MA. It was returned to the Boston Police Dept.'s Archives. I haven't been able to locate any other similar documents from before and after 1919. It's been a tough search!!!
