Hello Everyone!!
Last Autumn we moved out and loaded most of my antique trunks, top hats and cases, boots and lasts, collar boxes and bags and several other items, that I've posted here on CW, and moved them to climate controlled storage. I thought they made a really cool photo, so I thought I'd post it today. You may recognize many of these items that I've posted over the years. Some I've never posted, including a vintage child size bed, complete with custom made mattress. This is only part of what we moved there. I also crated up most of my collection of books, doorstops and other collectibles. I kept a few of my trunks in our home, including my oldest French made trunks, as those are a bit more fragile than the others.
Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!

Lol Thomas!! Actually, most of these are fairly lightweight. The larger trunks are only awkward and my wife and I were able to move them with ease.
All packed up and no where to go . They look all great !
Thanks purvis!!

That's a great photo Scott, always kinda nice seeing them piled up. I'd be careful the wife doesn't get any ideas. If things go south, She could send you out to sleep with all them on that climate controlled- child size bed. (Giggle/Gulp/Kidding) .Thanks for sharing my friend.
Great picture of your collection Scott, great to see all together.
Alan
Drill,
Lol!! She's threatened to send me there a few times. She did get fed up with the trunks and I had no choice but to move them to storage. Thanks for the comment pal!!
Alan,
Thanks friend!! I love seeing them all together myself.

Thanks Vynil33!!
It *is* a great photo Scott, even if also just slightly melancholy in that it represents so many fine things otherwise piled out of view in a metal box someplace where nobody else can enjoy seeing them...? :-(
My parents had a kinda-similar antique 'child's bed', a beautiful walnut thing with turned posts that probably like yours was a completely NON-standard size, so they (like you) had to have a mattress/spring custom made for it. All my nieces/nephews then eventually used it occasionally until it was included (and sold) in their downsizing auction a few yrs ago now -- after the sale was over and its new owners had loaded/departed, we were all surprised to discover they had left them behind taking only the bed parts themselves -- we even made an attempt to contact the buyers (via the auctioneer) to let them know, but never heard back...oh, well...
Hi Tim.
Thanks very much!! Yeah, I hated to have to move these into climate controlled storage, but I needed the space and I needed to clean out my shop, now that I no longer have the time to work with trunks.
I found that walnut bed, complete with rails and springs, at a peddlers mall for $25.00. It has casters on it, so I'm assuming it's from the 1930's or 1940's (perhaps even older). We had the mattress made for it, but, as you can see, we've never unpacked the mattress. I'm sure someone will come along, one day, who can truly appreciate it the way we do.
Thanks for the loves and for stopping by!!

Thanks vintagelamp!! So glad you enjoyed seeing these.
Nice post! I like seeing them together :-)
Good the storage is climate controlled. But sad they don't anymore "live" in your home...
Thanks Kyra!! When I retire, a few years from now, we plan to open a small shop. That should keep me busy during my retirement years:)
Beautiful collection, and Beautiful picture. Funny how just stacking them together creates an "Art Piece"
Thanks VERY much Rose!!!
