My father gave this to my son. It belonged to his Great Grandfather. It comes from Arkansas and the age period would put it in the time of the civil war. The Family story is that after the war he was shot by a Carpet Bagger at the well one morning, I've never olearned if he died from that or not. True? I 'm not sure but a great family story. There is a powder horn that goes with the pouch. As a reenactor I've learned they would use that to fill the cartridges which I am guessing would be kept in the wood tubes to be kept dry. I've only seen one other listed as a confederate powder bag. I'm curious as to the value even though we will never part it.
