Hi! This was my great-grandmother's trunk. I am having difficulty figuring out the possible date of this. Some research looks like late 1800's or early 1900's, but was hoping for better idea. The lock has Corbin Bros. Co., which in looking at the Corbin establishment dates, it doesn't mention "Bros." only Corbin Cabinet or P&F Corbin, so am hoping someone has knowledge of this. I had someone clean this up and put new leather on it so I can use it. This last picture was how it looked before.

Thank you in advance for any input!

This is a very common trunk and one you see the most of. Its nice when it is all cleaned up. The latches on this trunk were still being offered in 1908 with the front pressed steel or tin face cover verse die-cast. One could easily assume this to be from the first quarter of the 1900's. Steel bound...referring to the slat clamps present. Although there are many variations of this style trunk pertaining to the hardware...belts vs no belt..detailed slat clamps vs plain steel..etc It still remains from that period as far as I would be concerned. You can view this page I posted from a 1910-1911 Canadian Eatons catalog showing similar trunks as yours with variations in the hardware but yet the same.

Maybe Drill could help with the patent date for the belt guide on the lid face edge and the belt cover clamp at the bottom. That may help with a timeline as well.

early 1900's time period seems fitting.
