I have had this cedar and more stored away in the shop loft. Nothing better to do so decided to bring it back to life. I am building a roll around kitchen island out of scrap. It will be all cedar except the top which will be inch thick imported Italian slate I salvaged from a 40 year old pool table. You can make the old look new or make the new look old and spin a story to suit it.
Thought I would post this as an example of how things can be altered old to new or new to old. Be sure of what you buy and never believe a story that goes with it unless you can authenticate it. Last few days there have been some folks who believed a salesman's story and obviously got burned.
That will look great as a kitchen island!
Very beautiful cedar! You'll have to show us your kitchen island when it's completed.
I love what you have done with your cedar!!
I have several very nice cedar logs from trees blown over by a tornado and oak logs from trees that I had cut down but, so far,I haven’t found anyone who can saw them into planks.
Thanks for posting your very nice project!
Thanks to all for the loves and comments. Not sure if I saved pictures of it finished or not. It ended up with 35 cubic feet of storage space which is bigger than most fridges. The slate top polished up great and is now home to a big microwave and bagel toaster.
I've moved on to another project....carving a slab of soapstone as a memorial to go in a garden I am building in the front yard.
