I found this large vase the other day. It appears to be Kakiemon from Japan, but it doesn't seem very old. I have no idea as i've never had a piece of Kakiemon pottery before. any info appreciated! The vase is 10 inches tall.

I agree with you, it might not be Japanese either, that gold band at the rim, is completely wrong for Kakeimon, if the rest does have some similarities. It is still a very pretty porcelain vase.

thanks truthordare. it is Japanese and it's not a gold but a brown band which is typical of Kakiemon.

Found the recent maker in Japan, a descendant of the Kakiemon ceramic makers, here is their website and history, which I will provide part of here:
      https://www.kazari.com.au/essays-and-articles/japanese-ceramics-kakiemon

"Today the Kakiemon kiln is once more operating and producing high quality wares to meet the demands of a new market.
Authentic 17th century examples of Kakiemon porcelain can easily fetch tens of thousands of dollars at auction around the world, with dedicated collectors fiercely outbidding one another for rare examples and pieces with unusual designs.
Kazari stocks a range of 20th century Kakiemon wares which can easily look just as timeless and at home in modern settings as their forebears did in the grand residences of centuries past."
