In the area of collecting early wood and brass cameras, there are few cross-collectables but they are fun acquisitions when found. This antique glass candy container, in the style of an early red-bellows Kodak folding roll-film camera, is a nice example. I found it long ago (decades ago actually) in the early days of my collecting at an antique store somewhere in the Arizona desert.

Although well worn with a minor chip and missing its metal tripod, it was too cute to pass up. (A complete example would also have a pneumatic shutter in the form of a string hanging with wood piece hanging from the lens.) I can almost imagine a child’s joy eating candy and playing with this simple toy.

I forgot about this candy container and recently found it while organizing my shelves of accessories. It brought back pleasant memories of looking for antiques in the pre-Internet days. Even today, the hunt is still the fun part.

To show its small size, I included a similarly designed camera called a “Korona Special” (also posted here on CW) in the picture.
