Remember when they used to land Fireball XL5 with parachutes?
Me, neither!
That didn't stop Quercetti from selling this in 1962.
Like the kid on the box is doing, you rocket this XL5 into the stratospere,
then Fireball Junior (the nose cone) separates,
ejecting Steve Zodiac out into space (or the back yard),
then Steve's parachute opens and he, along with the XL5 drift safely back to terra firma.
If only the toy had REALLY looked like the art on the box.
They gave you decals to put on, and that helped, I guess
but nothing could hide that yellow Fireball Jr. nose cone.
The plastic should have been all the same color, like it appeared on TV.
Still, some really nice box art.
