I have a small bar oak keg, with the markings of:
    F. MILLER.
    MILWAUKEE
    WIS

Markings are the same on the top and bottom, bands are all original. I believe is from Frederick Plank-Road Brewery or Brewhouse. 15.5" tall x 10 wide.

Frederick Miller started Miller Brewing Company in Milwaukee in 1855. Perhaps it relates to his brewery.

Thank you all for your comments, I received this email from the MillerCoors Co., today.
You definitely have an old Miller barrel. We have similar barrels in our collection but they are difficult to date with any precision. A very rough estimate for the age of the barrel would be 1887-1919.  When it was founded in 1855 Miller was known as the Plank Road Brewery and later re-named the Menomonee Valley Brewery.
The Fred Miller Brewing Co. was incorporated in 1887, and the barrel reflects this name. Prior to Prohibition Miller owned as many as twenty-one properties in Superior, and at least six in Duluth, mostly tied-houses or saloons. Miller clearly would have shipped a significant amount of keg beer to the area.

When I saw the name stamp it brought to mind old kegs I had seen. Glad to see you have some firm info on this piece. Take good care of it.

I need to find out the value, there is no comparisons that I can find, Miller will not
give an insurance value, and I totally understand that. If anyone knows the value, please post a comment.

      Thank you.

If you read the rules then you know asking values is a violation. There is an appraisal link at the top of the page you can use for Barnaby's. I believe it is still $17 for an appraisal. If I had this item I would certainly spend $17 to get an appraisal in 48 hours as a starting point. They will need the pictures and the info you have for their research.

Sorry, new here, wouldn't have written that if I read the rules.

Don't feel bad, most don't read the rules until their posts get taken down. I figured you just needed the info for the future. Not the end of the world.
    9. K_DLH_03, 6 years ago
Thanks, sent it in for an appraisal.

Let us know how you make out with that. Keep in mind it will be an auction appraisal which is below wholesale value. Selling at auction value only makes money for one person and it isn't you.
