Over 51 years ago, when getting close to the end of my active duty in the United States Army, assigned to the U.S. Army Ryukyu Island Finance & Accounting Office at Ft. Buckner, Okinawa, I made my Short-Timers Calendar. If I remember right, you couldn't, in our office anyway, post a Short-Timers Calendar before your last 30 days before your separation date. It so happened, that after I changed the days left to 28, I received a visit from the Red Cross and they informed me that because of an emergency at home, the were sending me home on Emergency Leave. So I packed all my personal belongings, left Kadena Air Base the next morning and never adjusted my calendar, but kept it. It's not that I don't want to get rid of anything, but I still have all my payroll vouchers from my very first one in basic training through my separation final payment.
